Ever felt so hopeless for years and then in the matter of two years, you become very good?
Varsity volleyball at my school is on the rise. The team recently ended the regular varsity season with a overall record of 24-10 which set school history for our varsity volleyball team. Not to mention as of now we’re also going to the region championship tomorrow (10/9/14). This is a monumental thing as well. See in the previous years we have been fundamentally decent, but we couldn’t put down a solid win. Also even when we did figure out a way to gel, we had moments where we didn’t trust each other so it caused mental confusion rather than just playing together like a team.
Meanwhile this year it’s totally different. We aren’t amazing, but we don’t lose as much as we did last year. Just with basically two new additions we’re at our peak of the program. It’s honestly awesome to be able to claim that
we're good this year.
For starters my school has NEVER made it to the region championship ever; ever since we changed high school sports association 8 years ago. Not to bag on my school but that’s terrible! Also in addition we previously had a season where we didn’t win a single game.
Comparing this years season to the past years honestly makes me feel accomplished. Sadly we didn’t win the region championship, but we made it to the championship. Plus we made it to the first round of state. In which we’ve never done that either.
Sure the losses are sad, but in surprise we were an extremely young team. Which means we still have room to grow. Also we have an amazing coach who can strategize a way for us to pull through for next years and in the future. So in the next couple of years expect to see us possibly winning championships in a region/state near you.
